Setting Up My Photography Studio

Monday, 21 November 2011 18:33 by leticia

So now that we have been here a few months and out of the RV  ( believe it or not I took those Cap and Gown pics down below in the previous blog entry in the RV at the tiny RV booth Table near a window, needless to say it was a very tight squeeze, but we managed and Finesse came out Gorgeous) as I was saying, now that we are out of the RV and into a real home...I am beginning to set up my Photography Studio. This home has a really nice Huge area that is perfect for a Photography Studio with its own driveway and entry door for clients to use. So yesterday I got my Backdrops and my Softbox lights and reflectors all unpacked and put together and started organizing my Studio.

I also started changing all the Vendor sites that I am a member of to reflect the San Antonio, Tx. area that I will be working in now...and soon I will put an ad in the Local Newspaper as well. So hopefully soon, I will have a new clientele here in Texas.

It was sad, the week we were moving down I had to turn a Wa. Client down...I shot their wedding and they wanted me to shoot their eldest daughters Senior Portraits. There were a few Portrait appts I had to turn down : (

Sneak Peek at Ciara & Randal's Port Gamble Wedding

Monday, 17 August 2009 20:55 by leticia
This wedding was Amazing to Shoot! Started off at "The Salon and Spa on Gamble Bay" and the Ceremony was at "Hood Canal Vista Pavilion" was Such a Gorgeous location with a lovely backdrop, and the town was SO, SO, SO Cute! All the businesses were inside Quaint Little Old Houses. And the "Buena Vista Cemetery" Shots that the Bride and Groom requested...turned out pretty cool, I was going for Classy, Elegant yet Creative. We loved The town of Port Gamble so much that we went back the next day ( as tired as I was) to experience the town again this time we just had to let  our 18 year old daughter experience it as well, we knew she would get a kick out of The Tea Room, where Adam and I had eaten lunch the day before, we literally ate the last of their Clam Chowder...we tried to order it again the next day, and they told us that we had eaten the last of it the day before...we thought that was funny!  While we were eating lunch before the wedding, the previous day... 2 Tea Room guests were telling us about the Charm bracelets that you can collect from all of the businesses in town...so we definately knew we had to bring Finesse (our daughter) a chain from the Antique store and get her started with a charm from the tea room, so we did we knew she would love the idea of coming back the next day with us, to collect all of the Town charms...So now we both have Beautiful matching  Mother/Daughter charm bracelets, that we wear all of the time. It was so much fun...we spent like 5-6 hours eating, shopping, walking around, taking pics. and eating again before we left. I was right... Finesse loved the town as much as we did. Can't wait to go back and bring our Parents this time.

To See video footage of this ceremony visit my YouTube chanel at: http://www.youtube.com/Leticiawilson

I thought this video would be helpful for any Beginning Wedding Photographers...When I first started shooting weddings, I remember looking for videos online so that I could see a photographer in action...to see where it was okay to stand, how close to get to the couple, what type of cameras/equipment to carry, flash no flash, But I was unable to find very many videos, that focused on the Photographer. So I hope this video will be helpful to anyone who is getting ready to shoot their first wedding...Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have ; )

Ciara and Randal,
I just wanted to take this time to Thank you for allowing me to capture your Beautiful, Magical Day...I loved the venue you chose "Hood Canal Vista Pavilion" is one of my favorite venues now. And the town is just SO SO SO Cute. Ciara you looked Amazing in your Dress, I really enjoyed your MOH Tara...she was a joy to be around, and had lots of cool ideas...and I must say your guests were the most respectful guests I have ever worked around...they kept asking if it was okay to stand behind me and take photos? or Is it okay to take this shot after you? They made sure they were not getting in my way...Just very, very respectful guests! I hope you all are having a great honeymoon....Okay back to working on your images now ;)

Wedding Leads

Thursday, 23 July 2009 01:45 by leticia

I belong to a few wedding vendor sites, and yesterday,  one inparticular site sent me 10 wedding leads in my area for the year 2010, so I bid on them and sent a personal e-mail to each of them, I got a response from one of the couples late last night saying that they are interested, they asked a few questions, so I e-mailed them back...we'll see what happens. It would be nice to finish booking 2010 so early.

I also received a wedding request, from my own website last night...this couple is interested in my "Lace" package.

February 19, 2009 Daniel and Kasandra's 4th Anniversary

Friday, 13 February 2009 01:16 by leticia
Daniel and Kasandra have been married for 4 years now...and they are doing really really good, I am proud of them! And they have given me 2 beautiful Glama Girls, whom I adore! For their Anniversary I did not get them one of the gifts that I had planned on getting them...But I don't want to tell them what it is because I want to get it next year. So what I did get Kasandra is what she has been dying to have...The complete 7 seasons of The Gilmore Girls. It took me 2 weeks to burn all 42 discs. I Love the picture of her holding up the DVD's...you can really see the happiness in her eyes. We got Daniel a gift from "Things Remembered" a really cool sterling silver pen and clock for his night stand or desk, it lights up when you touch it and shows the time, temperature, stop watch, date and other stuff that I can't remember and each time you touch it is lights up in different colors, red, green, blue, purple. We had his name engraved "Daniel Rey Garcia" and the date " February 19, 2009" The pen stands in its spot magnetically. It was really really cool...He liked it. Adam wanted one for himself. We got the girls scratch and sniff books. Danyels was about camping, because she says she wants to go camping with me and Kasidy's is about a Candy Factory. They loved their gifts too. I babysat the girls while they went out to dinner and a movie! Sounds like they had a very nice time.

Wedding Photo to be Published in SnoValley Star Newspaper

Wednesday, 14 January 2009 18:59 by leticia

Today I received a couple of phone calls from a SnoValley Star Reporter , Mike Rowe. He wanted to ask permission to use one of my wedding photos in his newspaper article, he said he found me by Googling Preston Community Center...and Leticia Wilson Photography came up as having done a wedding there on July 12, 2008 so that led him to my blog and there he saw Melisa and Chris Oldenkamp's wedding pictures.

The Preston Community Center has become a historical landmark, so he is writing a story on it and wants to use my photo to show the different types of events that go on there at the community center, he says that he will credit my name to the photo. So I went ahead and gave him permission, I believe that he said that the article will be published in March. You can never advertise too much!

Here is the photo that his editor wants to use:

My Baby Boy is 24 years old today!

Tuesday, 23 December 2008 14:54 by leticia

I am filled with emotion as I write this...My son Daniel is 24 today! Time just fly's by so quickly. My advise to all young parents is this: Treasure and Cherish every single phase that your child goes through, whether good or bad, handle the situation with all the patience you can muster ( and I know there are days that you have to dig deep for that patience ) but Please do so. Because one day you too will be reminising on the days of your youth and your young children...you don't want to have regrets:  those Woulda, Coulda and Shoulda's! They are little people that we brought into this Insane world...So lets do all that we can to help and prepare them to be able to withstand the pressures that lie ahead for them in the future, because times are only getting worse as foretold in the Bible at 2 Timothy 3: 1-7 where it reads:

"1)But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2) For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3) having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4) betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5) having a form of godly dovotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away. 6) For from these arise those men who slyly work their way into households and lead as their captives weak women loaded down with the sins, led by various desires, 7) always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth."

Dont we see all that was just described going on today? So let us as parents do our best to prepare our young children for all of this, as well as train them so as to not become one of these unthankful people just mentioned in the bible scriptures.

Daniel has grown up to be a Fine Young Man...I am so Proud of who he is! He is very Kind and Loving with a HUGE heart as well as extremely talented...God gave my son the talent of being a very Creative Artist in which he can express himself. Being a single mother, I did not always have alot of material things to offer my son growing up, But I gave him all the Love I had, I do know that at times he must have felt left out at school, because he did not have the Nikes that everyone else had or the coolest latest styles of clothing...so I was glad that he had an outlet for his feelings and emotions. I know that he loves me...he has always let me know that...Even as a teenager he would ask me to go to his school at his Junior High to have lunch with him and his friends, and I remember on one particular occasion that I did that...As I was finished with my lunch and visiting with him, I stood up to leave and said " Okay Babe, I will see you at home later...Bye" I had opted not to give him our usual departure hug and kiss, so that I wouldn't embarrass him in front of his friends...But Daniel yelled over to me as I was turning to leave: " Mom, where's my hug and kiss?" and I turned immediately  and gave him a nice tight hug and kiss on the cheek (and then whispered to him why I hadn't). I couldn't believe it... here he is a 15 year old with all of his friends and he still didn't care if his mom hugged and kissed him goodbye...I always knew that I had a special Son, but he was even more special to me at that very moment...he totally made my day, I was smiling inside for the rest of the day!

Now he has a Beautiful wife and two Gorgeous little girls that I have the pleasure of being able to Love...Loving my grandbabies is like a Second Chance...for Anything and Everything that I feel that I may not have Done Often Enough... or Long Enough... or Good Enough, with him. I get to love my son all over again through his Precious daughters at the same time as Loving them to the Fullest. I treasure them and they treasure me...It is such an Awesome feeling to go to their home or the Kingdom Hall and hear "GLAMA!"  from across the room...as they are running to me with opened arms and a huge smile and Love in their eyes... because they are so excited to see me. So he has done it yet again... ' Made my Day ' through his daughters.

Thank you Son...For being the ' Very Best Son ' that any mother could ever dream of having!

Te Amo,

Mom

Getting ready for my next wedding

Wednesday, 22 October 2008 21:55 by leticia
Hey everyone...just been doing more of the same and getting ready for the wedding coming up in Redmond on Saturday the 25th of this month. Going through my normal checklist making sure all my batteries are charged and getting all of my gear together, and going through the clients folder to make sure I have all of the pertinent information that I need and reviewing the checklist of all of the special shots that the couple want for me to get. I will post some shots just as soon as I shoot the wedding. I am thinking of asking my son to tag along on this wedding...he is very creative and has expressed an interest in photography, thinking I can let him tag along and see what he thinks of it, if it is something he could really be interested in...I was thinking that maybe he could start doing some videography as well and we could offer that to our clients as well. We'll see!

McMeins Wedding at The Clise Mansion

Monday, 20 October 2008 15:03 by leticia
Congratulations...Will and Kathy!

So I went and shot the McMeins/Paplow wedding at the Clise Mansion in Redmond, Wa. this past Saturday October 25th...My husband, Adam went as my assistant, we got there about 7pm and and stayed until around 11pm. Everything was beautiful and went smoothly, The bride and groom did something different that I had never seen before, when the Groom sat his mother she carried a bottle of green sand and placed it on a pedestal, and then he went and seated his soon to be mother in law and she carried a bottole of Tan colored sand and placed it on the pedestal and then a little into the ceremony the Reverend lady announced that the Bride and Groom would begin the Sand Ceremony, so the bride poured a little bit of the tan sand into a glass container then the Groom poured a little bit of the green sand into the same glass container, then the reverend asked them both to pour their sand into the container simultaneously as they were pouring she said that they were now one, she then took the lid and covered the glass container and said that know one could now separate them. I thought that was kinda cool. I have 4 folders of pictures to edit, I have already edited two of them. All together I took about 450 pics. I will attach a picture slide show of their wedding as soon as I am finished editing them~Later Leticia

Nothing new to report

Wednesday, 8 October 2008 16:21 by leticia

Well, there isn't a whole lot to report...just reading my Anatomy Book and filling Orders of large prints for a couple of my clients. I have a wedding coming up on the 25th of this month...It should be really beautiful. Adam has taken a secular job away from home, he has been doing that for about a month or so...I am not used to that yet, he was always here working from home. So he goes to his daytime job, then comes home and works on his own business at nighttime.

My Daughter-in-law and my Glama Girls are out of state visiting their great grandma...I already miss them. I do hope they are having fun though. They will be gone for 10 days, they left yesterday on Tuesday. I promised Danyel she could stay with me for a couple of days when she gets back...she has really wanted to be around me alot lately. Well, I can't wait for them to get back.

I will write more, when there is something for me to write about. Til then...take care~Leticia

Stock Photography

Thursday, 2 October 2008 00:37 by leticia
So I have been doing some studying (medical transcribing) and working on my stock photography as well...coming up with new ideas that will sell for the marketing industry, and getting uniforms and props together to stage stock images. I love doing Stock. And I love how I make a steady income at it even when I am not working on it...because the pictures I have submitted keep making money for me. Usually overnight is when the majority of my images sell, because they are bought by other countries, so while I sleep people are buying my images...I always wake up to a nice surprise...Sold Images!

Lisa and Daniel's Slideshow and other Wedding Updates

Thursday, 7 August 2008 05:47 by leticia

Just a little update on what has been happening...I just finished Julie and Karl's Wedding photos, the couple that just got married on August 1, 2008 in Ocean Shores, I have posted all of my favorite photos on my website...go check them out http://www.leticiawilsonphotography.com/  I did a wedding on Saturday the 16h of this month...at Monte Villa Farmhouse in Bothell, Wa. It was Gorgeous! and I received a very warm, and encouraging e-mail from the bride last night. I will share it with you...here it is:

Hey there,

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the wonderful job you did.  I know things at the wedding were totally not what was supposed to be..  My poor brother was running around with his head cut off.  Thank goodness it was mostly all familia..  You fit right in... lol  I was just so tired and couldn't wait till the thing was over.

I wanted to let you know that we had some compliments on the photographer...  haha  They said it was really cool of you to get on the ground and that you are not afraid to get dirty.  Also, my 2 cousins are getting married, one this November apparently and one next year.  I have already given them your information and hope that they will contact you.  I am so excited to see the photos!!  My family took 500 pictures combined and my brother made me a DVD with music of all the pictures.  The colors were absolutely amazing!!! I can't wait to see yours.  Thanks again Leticia for the hard work you did, especially on the hottest day of the year.. Can you belive that??  Now look at the weather.. we really lucked out I guess..  We really enjoyed you and your husband and are very glad that we chose you.  We will definitely recommend you to anyone and everyone.  I hope to hear back from you soon.

Always,
           Lisa

So I think that catches us up on what is happening.  Oh! wait just found out yesterday that my Grand baby, Danyel (2yrs old) is going to have her tonsils removed they are Super enlarged and have been for some time, but she feels no pain so her pediatrician said to just let it go they would eventually go down, however, Kasandra just took her to an E.N.T. specialist and he said they are as large as tonsils can get, they are touching her Uvula (the little thing in the back of your throat that hangs down) and should come out immediately, she could stop breathing during sleep, So she will be getting that surgery done soon, and will have to stay in the hospital for a couple of days so that they can moniter her breathing and fluid intake, they say that it hurts to drink/swallow afterward, and that adults will do it if told to by the doctor to help them get better...even though it is painful, But that children often wont drink because of the pain, so if that happens and Danyel doesn't want to swallow, they will have to submit an IV with fluids for her.

So Okay, Now I think that catches us up! Whew Undecided ~Leticia

Carol and Steve's Wedding Day August 23, 2008

Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:39 by leticia
Well, I just got back from shooting Carol and Steve's Wedding...they are the couple whose Engagement Portraits I took a couple of months back. It was a Beautiful day, in the low 80's. I went to Carol's house to take portraits of them and of her and his family, then we headed to the Place of the Ceremony. Then we went into the Reception area...and got lots of great shots. Here are two of the Portraits that I took at her house. I will post the other shots in their Gallery on my website, when I am finished editing them.

Recuperating from another wedding

Friday, 18 July 2008 01:26 by leticia

I just shot another wedding on Saturday, July 12th. in Preston, WA. It was a very beautiful wedding...her colors were Red and White,  Melisa and Chris got married outdoors in a lovely gazebo, they had around 50 or so guests, they were a fun crowd and very helpful and friendly. Believe it or not it takes me a couple of days to recuperate physically from a wedding, all the stooping, and holding the same position for a long time, squating and rising, really takes a toll on your back, shoulders, thighs and Of course I wear heels when I go anywhere, so the soles of my feet are killing me. But I also bring my little step ladder and get up on that so that I can be at eye level and at times above eye level when I want them looking up at me. You wouldn't think that being a photographer and releasing a shutter button would take such a toll on you, I am not complaining by any means, just aching Wink.

Well, I am in the process of editing the shots I took...I shot over 1,000 frames. and have only edited a couple hundred so far. Here is a sample of some of the shots. I will post more on my website under "Melisa and Chris" when I am finished with them and after I have given the CD to my clients.

Wedding Planner/Officiant

Friday, 4 July 2008 13:13 by leticia

Today I want to tell everyone about someone that recently found me online...her name is Gina Newberry and she is a Wedding Planner and Officiant. The name of her business is "A Time Like This" She came to me looking for a photographer for her clients that are going to be eloping from Hawaii to Mt. Rainier here in WA. and wanted to know if I was available on the 28th of July (a Monday) and of course I am availabe, because it is pretty unusual to have a wedding scheduled for a Monday. Well, when she found out that I was available...she recommended me to her clients, they got a hold of me and booked me. So I am really excited about their elopement coming up. But back to Gina Newberry...I am really drawn to her as a person, after having gone to her website at http://www.atimelikethis.info and her blog http://washingtonstateweddings.blogspot.com/ and reading all about her,  but especially after reading her story as a strong single mom... and how she met her husband, Jack... you have got to read it(here: http://www.jacklovesgina.com )... it is such a touching story, it made my eyes get misty, and then to have such a happy ending was so inspiring. I can really relate to her, because I too having been a single mom for 6 or 7 years... and then meeting a wonderful man...who not only was eager to become my husband, but who also in becaming my Husband, became a Dad and Grandpa all in the same year, he never once hesitated or thought twice about it, he just dove right in without asking questions...and has done wonderfully in all 3 roles, so I am really drawn to Gina because I feel like I can relate to her previous situation as a single mom and the joy she must be feeling now to have such a wonderful, happy and successful life. Gina as a Wedding Planer/Officiant and Me as a Wedding Photographer. From the communication we have shared through E-mails...she reads as a very Loving, Caring, Spiritual and Brilliantly Professional individual who is very goal oriented. From reading about her it sounds like she has the same priorities as I do:   1. My Faith   2. My Family   3. My business...I feel that by putting "Faith" in God as your #1 priority the rest just falls into place, as stated in the Bible at Matthew 6:33:

"Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added to YOU.

I look forward to working with Gina on July 28th and having a long business relationship with her. If you are planning to wed soon I would recommend going to her website and contacting her to plan it all for you and even Officiating the wedding for the pair of you.http://www.atimelikethis.info

Kim and Mike Frazier's Wedding

Wednesday, 2 July 2008 20:10 by leticia

Just shot a wedding on Saturday the 28th...It went pretty well. The Bride and Bridesmaids got ready in Buckley at a Salon that her sister Christina works at it is called "All About You", So I showed up there around 11am, her wedding was supposed to begin at 3pm. So I was at the salon for a few hours taking "Getting Ready" shots, then I headed to the ceremony in Enumclaw. It was such a hot day close to 100 degrees, The Ceremony was outside...very hot but very pretty and everything went off without a hitch, after the "I Do's" the whole wedding party released butterflies. Then we took some group portraits, and headed over to her house for the reception( which was also outside) most of the wedding party and guests changed into casual clothes, the kids couldn't wait to get their individual portraits taken so they could tear their clothes off and get into something more comfy...there were around 40-45 guests. The wedding had a Western theme, so it is cute the wedding party all wore cowboy type attire, the Bride wore a nice cream lacey dress with cream colored cowboy boots that also had lace on them, the Bridesmaids wore pink cowboy boots, The Groom and the Best man and grooms boy wore blue jeans and a western shirt with a bolo tie. Everyone had a lot of fun. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

Carol and Steve

Saturday, 28 June 2008 15:33 by leticia

Well, here is a little sample of the Engagement Portrait session I just shot on Tuesday the 24th it went really really well, It was so much fun, They were a really Fun Couple, they had lots of ideas for poses that they wanted to try, and were up for any poses I mentioned, and They just kept kissing all the time...They will forever be remembered by me as the "So In Love Kissing Couple" they were great, Carol told me that they met at a dance, so it was very important to them to get some "Dancing Shots" for their Engagement Portrait Session. It was so cute, I thought they were just going to do some dance poses for me to photograph, but they didn't they were really dancing...and to NO music and they were so into it...smiling, laughing, kissing, I told them to ignore me and just have fun and they had no problem doing that! to see the rest of their engagement portraits go to: http://www.leticiawilsonphotography.com/displaygallery.aspx?GID=221&FID=13&Cname=Couples%20and%20Engagements&Fname=Steve%20and%20Carol  They will be married on August 23, 2008 So I will be there to shoot their wedding...I look forward to that. Well, I am going to finish editing their portraits I will post more of them later ~Leticia
